<strong>Jom Nawa</strong>

Jom Nawa

Founder / Thai Head Teacher

Jom was born and grew up in a village in Esaan, in the North East of Thailand, the third of four sons of the local School Principal and of the only nurse of the surrounding villages.
He studied Law in Bangkok, where he lived for seven years, before moving to Koh Samui in 1999. He got off the boat at Nathon Pier with 50 baht in his pocket and the will to do what the village where he grew up wouldn’t allow him to do: build up his own future. On Samui he got in contact with the large community of European expats, quickly improving his English skills first and starting to teach Thai soon after.
He spent his first years on Samui teaching Thai to foreigners and working as an interpreter and translator for the local court.
Jom’s magnetic personality and innovative teaching style helped him to quickly become popular among the local expats. In 2001, he opened Mind Your Language School Thailand, the go-to place to learn Thai on Koh Samui. As the years passed and his teaching experience grew, he developed a unique method to learn to speak foreign languages in a fast and effective way, based on repetition and the development of muscle memory. This method formed the current T.M.C. Methods®, the pillars upon which we design all private and one to one, in-class or in-class or online lessons, and can be experienced at its best in the 2 Weeks to Speak Intensive Thai Conversation Courses.
Jom is the heart of the school, and his mission is to make every hour you learn with him easy, fast, effective and fun.
