WHAT IS THE EDUCATION VISA (ED)?

What is the purpose of the Education Visa (ED) in Thailand? The Education Visa (ED) allows foreigners to stay in Thailand for up to 1 year while studying at accredited institutions. Each stay is valid for 90 days, requiring a 90-day extension at immigration with proof of continued enrollment and attendance. Popular among language learners, this visa enables students to immerse themselves in Thai culture while studying at recognized language schools, universities, or vocational centers.
The ED visa requires regular class attendance and maintaining valid student status.

At Mind Your Language Thailand, our language programs qualify for ED visa sponsorship, with experienced instructors helping students develop practical language skills for daily life while meeting all visa requirements.

WHO CAN APPLY?

1. The ED visa is available to foreign students who want to study Thai in Thailand.
2. Applicants must be 15 years or older.
3. Must enrol in an in-person course approved by the Thai Ministry of Education.
4. Must provide the required documents, including passport, photos, proof of residence, and tuition payment.
5. Some applicants may be required to submit a criminal background check, depending on nationality and visa history.

HOW TO APPLY?

1. Sign up for one of our language courses and complete the online application form.
2. Prepare and submit the required documents, including passport copy, photos, police clearance, and financial proof.
3. Make the payment and we will submit your documents to the Ministry of Education (MOE) for processing.
4. Wait for the MOE approval letter, which is typically issued within a few weeks depending on processing time.
5. Apply for your ED visa at a Thai embassy or consulate, then start your studies in Thailand.
IMPORTANT NOTE: In-person attendance is mandatory, and students must maintain a minimum of 80% attendance to comply with visa requirements.

Once you arrive in Thailand, please check your entry stamp before leaving the immigration booth and make sure you have the correct permit to stay. For ED Visa holders, this is typically a 90-day permit. The current extension fee is 1,900 THB per extension. For example, if you arrive on 1 October, 90 days from this date is 30 December.

Refund Policy

In the rare incident that your ED Visa application for a Letter of Approval is refused, you will receive a full refund of your course fees from Mind Your Language, less 3,000 THB administration costs.
